The Illustrated Super Secrets of Writing
Introduction
They say it takes a million words before you can write a story that sells to a decent market. Others say it takes ten years to master a craft, and writing fiction that sells takes mastery indeed. But I made my first professional sale when I was just fifteen years old, and I doubt I'd written more than fifteen thousand words by then.
I'm here to tell you that you can do it in less than a million. How much less is up to you. But if you're willing to learn and you do the work, the principles in my Super Secrets of Writing can drastically shorten your learning curve. And if you're already published? The Super Secrets will make your writing stronger, and you'll sell more often. How do I know? Because I teach these concepts to writers. I've watched their writing soar. The proof is in their published works and in their international awards.
The majority had neither when they started.
I'm Wulf Moon. I've written my million words, my two million words and more, in both fiction and nonfiction. I've been published in two international bestselling anthologies. I've won over fifty writing awards. I've won Writer of the Year five times in two separate international contests, and my stories and books have won many Best of the Year awards. I've been at the business of writing for a long time, through the pitfalls and the triumphs. I've had them all. I'm not bragging. You need to know this. You don't hire a guide to take you to the top of Mt. Everest that's never been there.
That's what the Super Secrets are. A guide. From someone who knows the ropes. You follow my map and I'll show you proven routes to success. They'll save you time. Likely some heartache as well.
These are The Illustrated Super Secrets of Writing. A selection of the award-winning Super Secrets that are now pushing toward one million online views. They are a sample of what's developed in the books. Enjoy this taste of what's to come.
The articles collected here are the product of a friendship that began with the publishers of a positive fiction magazine called DreamForge. When editor Scot Noel saw the results of the writers I'd been mentoring, he commissioned me to share the Super Secrets as a series to help the writers that read his magazine. Every article is beautifully illustrated by Scot's wife and business partner, Jane Noel. As I prepared the book How to Write a Howling Good Story for publication I thought, "Wouldn't it be a lovely way to introduce writers to the Super Secrets if they were all wrapped up in a workbook filled with Jane's gorgeous illustrations?" I proposed to this idea to Scot and Jane, and they heartily agreed.
So here we are. I'm grateful for their help. We like helping people. That's why we're friends. And we sincerely hope The Illustrated Super Secrets of Writing will help you.
Enjoy.
