The 2020 NaNoWriMo Writing Tools Bundle - Curated by Kevin J. Anderson
Each year I curate a big bunch of writing books to help everybody dive into NaNoWriMo with all the tools, skills, and inspiration they need.
This year we have a massive StoryBundle of 16 books and a video class covering the range of techniques, business, markets, and career management. All for as little as $20.
To get you ramped up for your challenge of writing a novel in a month, there's Leah Cutter's NaNoWriMo for the Rest of Us, and for those of you afraid of the empty page, Sarah Painter's book Stop Worrying; Start Writing will give you that push you need. I've included two books on actually Getting It Done—The Nifty 15 by Honorée Corder and Brian D. Meeks and The 5 Day Novel by Scott King.
Now for the mechanics of plotting out and planning your novel, take the time to study The In(s) and Out(s) of Series and Story Guides by C. Michelle Jefferies and Simply Synopsis by Michelle Somers. Then to improve your actual writing, there's Writing Better Fiction by Brent Nichols, Essoe's Guides to Writing Action Sequences and Sex Scenes by Joshua Essoe, and Sacha Black's companion books 10 Steps to Hero and 13 Steps to Evil.
Once you're finished with your work, you'll need Mike Reeves-McMillan's The Well-Presented Manuscript and Mastering Amazon Descriptions by Brian D. Meeks. Getting deeper into the nitty-gritty, you might want to turn to Audio for Authors by Joanna Penn and then promote better with Andrea Pearson's Killer Subject Lines for newsletters.
Now for career management, especially in these turbulent times, Kristine Kathryn Rusch has Turning Setbacks into Opportunity: A Freelancer's Survival Guide, and Dean Wesley Smith offers a special pop-up workshop, How Can Your Business Survive the Downturn" (a $150 value).
Now you are all set to jump into National Novel Writing Month. – Kevin J. Anderson
