BOOK PREVIEW

Excerpt

Early in my writing journey I consumed information about how to write and publish, like a toddler eats cookies; as fast as I could, crumbs spraying everywhere. I read books about writing, I listened to podcast about writing, and I subscribed to magazines about writing.

Magazines were great because the articles focused on one aspect, like writing dialogue or effective world building. I found the information helpful and because of the size, easy to digest.

Eventually, I became the one to write the articles. Over the past decade, I've written dozens of feature articles for The Writer magazine, Writer's Digest, WOW! Women on Writing and Writing (UK Magazine).

For fun one day (actually, I was procrastinating on another writing project), I compiled all my articles related to writing into one document. Much to my surprise, all of these articles combined resulted in over 300 pages of content. I hadn't realized the amount of work I had written over the years.

Because I still own the rights to all this content (I am adamant that I only sign away first time and one time rights to my articles), I wanted to do something with all of it.

And here we are. I initially compiled all the articles into one book, but it became clear there were two distinct sections; one on the craft of writing and one on the business of writing. Now there will be two separate books focusing on different aspects of the writing journey.
