A great idea is back: The Immerse or Die challenge.
Every morning Jefferson Smith, host of the Immerse or Die system, gets on a treadmill and opens a book. If that book breaks reader immersion because of the writing, editing or layout, that's a strike. Three strikes and the book is gone.
Jefferson's read 400 of these books now, and only 10% have been able to last for an entire treadmill workout. After that, the survivors get put to a full-length test. If they can survive an entire front-to-back reading, well, they win. These are the winners.
